Snifters & Tulip Glasses
Beer snifters and tulip glasses are somewhat rarer than most other beer glasses, and are typically used for imperial stouts, eisbocks and barely wines. They are footed, with a stem leading to a bulbous chamber with narrows at the top, as a result beers that form a large head are often not suited to snifters and tulip glasses.
Snifters are especially suited for highly aromatic beers, as the shape assists with trapping the volatiles, and swirly can agitate them in order to produce a potent aroma.
Tulip glasses are somewhat more versatile than snifters, and are often used for beer tasting for this reason.
